2013 Traverse Gets A New face Lift Zeigler Chevrolet Schaumburg
2013 Traverse: Family Place Gets New Face
by Chevrolet in the News on March 30, 2012

“The new Traverse is a family vehicle without compromise,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet Global Marketing and Strategy. “It is more capable than many sport-utility vehicles, with as much room as a minivan and better functionality than both. The Traverse is clever, capable and confident—and there when you need it most.”
It’s much more athletic-looking, too, thanks to a revised exterior design that’s also cleaner and more sophisticated, and the 2013 Traverse also introduces a new front-end appearance that will be used throughout Chevy’s family of crossover utility vehicles. Highlights include a more aggressive multi-bar grille, an imposing powerdome hood, redesigned headlamps, a dash of chrome, and flowing rounded corners that draw their inspiration from the look of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The brand’s designers also introduced some intricate new cues at the rear of the vehicle, accented by a revised license-plate pocket and taillamps.

In the cabin, those families will enjoy more soft-touch materials for a premium ambiance, with the driver benefiting from a new center stack that packs a color-touchscreen radio with a 6.5-inch screen as well as improved climate controls that are both easier to use and redesigned for an upscale feel. Chevrolet also made a noticeable effort to improve the overall attention to detail in the 2013 Traverse’s interior, adding further refinement.
The ultimate family-friendly feature—a rear-seat entertainment system—remains available on the 2013 Traverse, which also offers a new high-tech infotainment advantage: Chevrolet MyLink. It integrates owners’ smartphones to enable access to Internet music-streaming services like Pandora and Stitcher, while enabling hands-free calling through the Traverse’s audio system.
Further, it’s not just the new Traverse’s design that’s more similar to Chevy’s car lineup; the vehicle’s suspension gains notable changes—like front-strut rebound springs and new shock valving—that enables a smoother, more car-like driving experience. But the 2013 Traverse is no poser when it comes to pulling power. Holstering an advanced V6 engine that makes up to 288 hp, the Traverse is capable of towing 5,200 lbs.
Today’s families also demand superior levels of safety in their vehicles and here, again, the 2013 Traverse is leading the way: It’s the first vehicle in the industry to offer a front center airbag that deploys between the driver and front-seat passenger to provide added protection in opposite-side impact scenarios.
“While no restraint technology or feature can address all body areas or all potential injuries, the front center air bag is designed to address field-relevant, side-impact crashes that are not addressed by current regulatory or consumer metric test conditions,” said Gay Kent, GM executive director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness. “It works with the vehicle’s other air bags, safety belts and structure to deliver a safer occupant environment.”
And it will go to work later this year, when the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse is slated to reach local dealerships. We are located at 1230 E Golf rd Schaumburg IL 60173 847-882-2200
Diesel Chevy Cruze On Its Way Zeigler Chevrolet
Cruze Diesel Update: The Countdown Continues
by Chevrolet in the News on February 21, 2012

According to Arlington Chevrolet, Chevy engineers are working with their associates at GM’s diesel HQ in Torino, Italy, to fine-tune the global Cruze’s diesel powerplant to meet the unique demands of American drivers; meanwhile, teammates in Russelsheim, Germany, are providing support in the development of other specialized components. In fact, testing already has begun for the American market, in temperatures ranging from -40 degrees Fahrenheit all the way up to 158 degrees, and at altitudes reaching 10,000 feet.
“We’re able to put the diesel engines through rigorous testing to ensure they operate optimally under a wide range of conditions and also can be integrated seamlessly into the production vehicle,” said Pierpaolo Antonioli, managing director of the Torino Powertrain and Engineering Center. “We’ve pushed these engines in the labs so that the customer can depend on them in real-world driving situations.”
As a result, according to Mike Siegrist, the automaker’s diesel assistant chief engineer: “U.S. customers are going to be pleasantly surprised when they get a chance to drive the Chevrolet Cruze diesel. Our global team is providing diesel engineering expertise that will give U.S. Cruze customers great quality, torque and fuel economy in a car that’s both fun to drive and practical at the pump.”
2013 Camaro 1LE Twist On Performance
2013 Camaro 1LE Puts New Twist on Performance
by Chevrolet in the News on March 27, 2012

“The Camaro 1LE combines the best elements of the SS and ZL1 to take road-racing performance to a whole new level,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “That the 1LE breaks the three-minute lap at VIR [Virginia International Raceway] puts it in the upper echelon of performance cars. That it starts under $40,000 makes the Camaro 1LE one of the most affordable, most capable track-day cars offered by any manufacturer.”

- A 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 426 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque
- Exclusive monotube rear dampers to optimize body control and ride quality
- Larger front (28-mm) and rear (27-mm) stabilizer bars for improved control
- Higher-capacity rear-axle half shafts that were designed specifically to manage the LE1’s improved levels of traction
- A strut tower brace that heightens steering feel and response
- The same wheel bearings, toe links, rear shock mounts, and high-capacity fuel pump found in the Camaro ZL1
- Goodyear Eagle Supercar G:2 tires (the same ones used on the front of the ZL1)
- An exclusive Tremec six-speed manual transmission with a higher final-drive ratio than on the Camaro SS and a standard air-to-liquid cooling system
“With the 2013 model year, Camaro offers something for almost every driver, including: the 323-horsepower, 30-mpg 2LS; the all-new, 580-horsepower supercharged ZL1 convertible; the COPO Camaro for drag-racing; and the new 1LE for amateur track days,” said John Fitzpatrick, Camaro marketing manager. “We expect the range of choices, and enhancements for 2013, will help Camaro remain America’s most-popular sports car.” For more information please visit Zeigler Chevrolet in Schaumburg 1230 E Golf rd Schaumburg IL 60173 847-882-2200

2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 First Look
Elevating The Muscle Car Rivalry To A Whole New Level

Ford versus Chevy. It's one of the greatest rivalries in the world, joining the likes of Coke versus Pepsi and Michigan versus Ohio State. While the Mustang and Camaro can't be credited as the first two vehicles to start the Blue Oval and Golden Bowtie wars, it's fair to say the two muscle cars kicked the battle into high gear in the 1960s.
Wherever there are rivals, you can be sure there will also be healthy levels of both respect and distaste for one another. In fact, emotions from Ford fans following the debut of both the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 culminated in Camaro lead engineer Al Oppenheiser being unwittingly cast in the lead role of another Downfall Hitler overdub spoof. Perhaps it was something he said...
Of course, none of this ZL1 versus GT500 smack-talk will amount to anything if either car isn't up to snuff. With that in mind, At Chevrolet's behest, we traveled to the Bondurant Road Course just south of Phoenix, Arizona to put the 2012 Camaro ZL1 through its paces.

It used to be that the only meaningful bits of Camaro or Mustang performance data could be measured in a straight line. We're talking 0-60, 0-100 and the ever-important quarter-mile time and trap speed. Let's get them out of the way right now.
Those data points still matter in a big way, and will undoubtedly be the most oft-quoted stats by Ford Fanatics and the Bowtie Brigade. But, these days, you've got to be able to do more than go fast in a straight line to impress the true diehards.

And that's where the orange corner is placing its bets with the ZL1. Perhaps the most significant change to the ZL1 over its SS sibling, besides the supercharger, of course, are the magnetorheological dampers fitted at all four corners. We've seen this technology on a number of high-performance vehicles – from various Ferrari GTs to GM's own Cadillac CTS-V and Corvette ZR1 – but these shocks boast a new generation of both hardware and software that makes it all tick.
Chevrolet makes full use of the MR shocks' computer-controlled adjustability with the ZL1, and it pays big dividends on the track. The driver can choose from five settings using a trio of buttons just ahead of the shifter on the center console. A quick two-tap routine engages Performance Traction Management mode. The first stage of PTM is for adverse weather, and in the sunny climes of Arizona, we skipped it. PTM Mode Two affords moderately skilled drivers – even those unfamiliar with the car – the ability to have fun on a track with little danger of losing control. Modes Three and Four gradually allow more tire slip, stiffen up the Magnetic Ride Control and quicken the steering for drivers who have outgrown Mode Two.

And then there's Mode Five. This is the setting Chevrolet recommends for the track, and it's tuned to improve lap times of even the most highly skilled drivers. It works. Countless algorithms are programmed into all facets of the car's most technological bits and pieces, particularly the MR shocks and traction control. The suspenders get race-car stiff and the rear wheels are allowed just the right amount of slip to help a trained driver eke out the most corner exit speed possible.
To say we were impressed by the overweight Camaro's ability at Bondurant would be an understatement. With an official curb weight of 4,120 pounds, this car should be more of a linebacker than a ballerina. And it is. But it's a linebacker wearing a fluffy pink tutu and those crazy lace-up shoes with blunt-tipped toe boxes... and we mean that in the best way possible. After all, the ZL1 rather impressively managed to lap the Nürburgring in seven minutes and 41 seconds. That's almost 40 seconds quicker around the 'Ring than the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro SS.

If there's one place its devotees would expect the ZL1 to shine, it's at the drag strip. Bowtie fans will not be disappointed. The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will easily eat up 1,320 feet of asphalt and spit out a time slip in the low-12-second range. We know, we tested it in far-from-ideal conditions ourselves and have slips to prove it. It won't take much more than good weather, a manicured track surface and adequate seat time to drop a few tenths from the mid-12s at 114 miles per hour that we instantly recorded.
Part of the ZL1's race-car-in-drag performance can be attributed to good old-fashioned horsepower and wide, sticky tires. There are 20-inch forged alloy wheels at all four corners, available in either black 10-spoke or polished five-spoke designs, to which 285-front and 305-rear Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires are mounted.

We also noted good throttle response, predictable clutch feel and a slick-shifting six-speed manual gearbox. These items alone should be all a seasoned drag racer needs to post the best numbers possible. For those who will only take their shiny ZL1 to the drag strip once or twice a year, Chevrolet has a trick up its sleeve to keep you from red-faced embarrassment and endless excuses.
PTM Mode Five is optimized for drag strip launches. As Chevrolet explains it, the starting line of a quarter-mile track is normally a death sentence for traction control systems. Right off the bat, a huge spike of G forces are loaded into the drivetrain at launch from the sticky surface, so the car gets full power from its computer. Then, the street tires (not low-pressure racing slicks) break traction, and all that power goes up in tire smoke. To combat this problem, the ZL1's PTM incorporates launch control into its bag of tricks. Nothing measurable is left to chance, from temperature and barometric pressure to the heat of the engine, the computer's megahertz-addled brain figures out the proper way to leave the lights.

Here's the step-by-step for launching the ZL1 in Mode Five: Pull up to the staging lights, mash the throttle and step off the clutch right about the time the last yellow light is lit. Keep your foot planted to the floor as you row through the gears – the ZL1 is equipped with no-lift-shift programming – until you pass the last set of timing lights. You've just managed a quarter-mile pass in the 12s. Congratulations are in order... there were only a handful of muscle cars in the 1960s or '70s that could manage such a feat, and they all command well over a hundred thousand dollars in today's horsepower-fueled classic car market.
Would we buy the automatic? No. While the 6L90 gearbox is a fine unit, we'd choose the six-speed manual every day of the week. And while we're on the subject, we'll also mention that the steering wheel paddles of the auto-box'd ZL1 are flimsy plastic pieces that feel utterly out of place on a performance car.

There are downsides to the ZL1 package that apply to any Camaro model, including piss-poor visibility, overtly large exterior dimensions and an elephantine curb weight without the interior space to match. Worst of all, a complete dearth of headroom is exacerbated when wearing a helmet at the track. Finding a comfortable seating position was a big problem for our six-foot-two long-torsoed frame.
Fortunately, there are a boatload of positives that manage to outweigh the negatives, including a comfortable ride from the magnetic shocks, a highly refined drivetrain and suede interior inserts that dress up the otherwise kitschy cabin. And, lest we forget the big V8 underhood, there's an active exhaust system that belches out one of the most glorious petroleum-fueled soundtracks in America, with just a hint of whine to remind you of the supercharger nestled atop the vee.

Perhaps the most impressive feat performed by the Camaro ZL1 isn't that it's fast – that's to be expected, right? – it's that the ZL1 will be fast for anyone, with almost any talent level, each and every time. And it will do so for the price of $54,095. That's certainly a lot of coin to spend on a Camaro, but we think it's a bargain in the world of performance. And the best part? All the go-fast goodies are standard equipment, including the magnetic suspension, PTM computer and heavy-duty cooling for the engine, transmission, brakes and rear differential.
While the upcoming ZL1 versus GT500 fight is sure to go down guns blazing, without having driven the future Shelby alongside this super Camaro, we're not ready to concede the victory to Ford based on spec sheets alone. Until both cars line up head-to-head, the endless pokings and proddings from Ford and Chevy fans will be nothing but a chorus of predictions.

The official 0-60 time is 3.9 seconds and the quarter mile is dispatched in 12 seconds flat. The Camaro ZL1's 6.2-liter supercharged V8, which shares its basic spec sheet with the Cadillac CTS-V and Chevy Corvette ZR1, puts out 580 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 556 pound-feet of torque at 4,200 rpm. The official 0-60 time is 3.9 seconds and the quarter mile is dispatched in 12 seconds flat. Top speed is listed as 184 miles per hour, thanks in part to an aero package that includes a new front fascia, a carbon fiber hood with functional air extractor vents and an undertray with NACA ducts for cooling.
Those data points still matter in a big way, and will undoubtedly be the most oft-quoted stats by Ford Fanatics and the Bowtie Brigade. But, these days, you've got to be able to do more than go fast in a straight line to impress the true diehards.

The ZL1 rather impressively managed to lap the Nürburgring in seven minutes and 41 seconds.Thankfully, the ZL1's brakes have also been upgraded to cope with the power of its engine. The six-pot Brembo pistons clamp down hard on two-piece ventilated rotors up front, while single-piece rotors with four-piston calipers do the deed out back.
To say we were impressed by the overweight Camaro's ability at Bondurant would be an understatement. With an official curb weight of 4,120 pounds, this car should be more of a linebacker than a ballerina. And it is. Opt for the six-speed automatic and you'll be rewarded with eminently repeatable time slips.Want to know a secret? There's an even easier way to dominate the drag strip. Opt for a 2012 Camaro ZL1 with the six-speed automatic transmission and you'll be rewarded with eminently repeatable time slips by following just one simple step: hit the gas. Well, first turn off the traction control completely and put the shifter in manual mode. But then hit the gas and let the transmission row the gears – the auto-equipped ZL1 will pre-select the next gear and upshift right at redline in this mode, though it will sit at its fuel-cutoff point all day long otherwise.

The Gas Guzzler tax should add $1,300 for a manual-equipped model and $2,600 for an automatic. Finally, as you might expect, fuel economy is bad. Like, really bad. The EPA estimates you'll get 14 miles per gallon city and 19 mpg highway driving a ZL1, which means it's also subject to the federal government's Gas Guzzler tax. If its similarly tuned corporate cousin, the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, is anything to go by, that should add an extra $1,300 to your tab for a manual-equipped model and $2,600 for an automatic. Ford fans will freak if we don't also mention that the more powerful 2013 GT500 is efficient enough to earn exemption from the GG tax. And naturally, the ZL1 only drinks premium.

All the go-fast goodies are standard equipment, including the magnetic suspension, PTM computer and heavy-duty cooling for the engine, transmission, brakes and rear differential.
The Camaro team seemed quite sure their baby would beat the 2013 GT500 around any race track with curves.By comparison, GM reps are happy to point out that Ford recommends three additional coolers from its official parts catalog for any GT500 that will be subject to track use... and makes it clear that such use may result in the loss of warranty coverage. That is, at least for the 2012 model. Need we also mention the Mustang's live rear axle, as opposed to the fully independent setup affixed to the Camaro? As if to place the ball squarely in Ford's court, the Camaro team we spoke to at the ZL1 launch seemed quite sure that their baby would beat the 650-horsepower 2013 Shelby GT500 around any race track with curves... and possibly in a straight line.

Chevy Cruze: The Quiet American Zeigler Chevrolet Schaumburg
“I have a pretty acute sense of hearing,” says Frank Delekta, a development engineer for General Motors. “Outside of work, if I ask someone ‘Did you hear that?’ the answer is almost always ‘No.’ I hear noises that others don’t.”
But Delekta’s not complaining—and neither are drivers of the Chevy Cruze: Thanks to the former’s sharp hearing, the latter enjoy one of the quietest cabins on the road. Extensive efforts by Delekta and the crew at GM’s Squeak and Rattle Lab made sure of that.
Their work throughout the Cruze’s development process led to the use of a number of volume-reducing measures, including an innovative “Liquid Applied Sound Deadener.” This material is applied to key areas of the Cruze’s body structure, then melts into place as the car’s body travels through the paint oven. In addition, the Cruze’s doors are triple sealed and feature fiberglass “blankets” that act as barriers to noise, water and disruptive airflow.

“A component may squeak or rattle at 100 degrees but not below freezing or vice versa,” explained Delekta.
All that testing resulted in improvements to some 74 different components to help create a significantly quieter interior for the Cruze—and a significantly more enjoyable driving experience for hundreds of thousands of Cruze owners

2013 Chevy Corvette 427 With Video
Chevy Unchains a New Corvette 427 Convertible
by Chevrolet in the News on January 20, 2012

It’s a reincarnation of a classic that also celebrates some notable landmarks for Corvette.
“The 2013 model year will be historic for Corvette, marking its 60th Anniversary and the final year for the current ‘C6’ generation,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Global Marketing and Strategy for Chevrolet. “We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate these milestones than bringing back one of the most-coveted combinations in the brand’s history—the Corvette convertible and a 427 cubic-inch engine.”
For the metrically inclined, that means the latest Corvette gets a 7.0-liter heart transplant, with the donor being the hi-po Corvette Z06. And keep in mind: This hand-built LS7 engine pumps out 505 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. Installed in the 427 Convertible, the results include a 0-60 time of 3.8 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 11.8 seconds and top speed north of 190 mph. Lateral acceleration is an impressive 1.04 g.

Also included are other core elements drawn from the high end of the current Corvette lineup, like the driveline and rear axle system of the Z06, ZR1-style Michelin PS2 tires wrapped around the lightweight, machine-faced wheels that debuted on the 2012 Z06, standard Magnetic Selective Ride Control—one of the fastest-reacting suspension enhancers in the world—and plenty of carbon fiber body work.
In fact, thanks to a carbon-fiber raised hood, Z06-style fenders and floor panels, with an available carbon-fiber front splitter and rocker panels that are standard on the 60th Anniversary package, the 427 Convertible weighs a mere 3,355 lbs. That’s good for a power-to-weight ratio of 6.64 (each horsepower is driving 6.64 lbs. of Corvette) and good enough to beat drop-tops such as the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, Audi R8 5.2 RSI Spyder, Aston Martin DBS Volante Convertible and Ferrari California Convertible.
The rest of the new 60th Anniversary package, which will be available on all 2013 Corvette models, adds an Arctic White exterior/Blue Diamond interior, a cabin swathed in leather and suede, a ZR1-style rear spoiler, 60th Anniversary badging and logos, gray-painted brake calipers and, for convertible models, a blue top. Chevy also will offer a graphics upgrade to the package for further flair, courtesy of full-length Pearl Silver Blue racing stripes, including, for convertibles, a stripe stitched right into the top.
Both the Corvette 427 Convertible and the 60th Anniversary package are set to reach dealers this summer.

New Sonic RS Is The Hot New Hatch Zeigler Chevrolet
Sonic RS: Chevy Cooks up a New Hot Hatch
by Chevrolet in the News on December 19, 2011

“The Sonic RS remains true to the progressive spirit of the concept and brings an unmistakable attitude to the segment,” said John Mack, design director for the Sonic. “From every angle and every touch point, it is a car that is unabashed in its performance statement—and one that drives Chevrolet’s performance legacy into its second century.”
Putting the exclamation point on that statement: A powertrain that truly lives up to its name. The forced-induction four-cylinder engine in the Sonic RS will be the only turbo in its segment, and it brings along a healthy 138 hp and 148 lb.-ft. of torque. Then, to get the most out of those ponies, Chevy offers two six-speed transmissions specifically engineered for the Sonic RS. The standard manual unit has all-new gear ratios as compared to the cog-swapper from the “regular” Sonic, while the available automatic transmission gains a unique final drive ratio.

The Sonic RS also boasts a full complement of style enhancers, inside and out, including:
- A full body kit with new front fascia, grille, rear fascia, rear spoiler and rocker moldings
- Redesigned fog lamps
- A retuned and chrome-tipped exhaust system
- Model-specific 17-inch five-spoke wheels
- Plenty of RS badging
- Front sport seats
- A racing-inspired, flat-bottomed sport steering wheel
- Aluminum sport pedals
- RS-only instrument panel graphics
- A sport gearshift knob on manually transmissioned models
- Unique interior trim colors and four bold exterior shades—Victory Red,
- Summit White, Cyber Gray Metallic and Black Granite Metallic
“The new Chevrolet Sonic RS pushes Chevrolet’s performance heritage in a new direction, for a new generation of drivers,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Global Chevrolet Marketing. “It takes the Sonic’s great design and latest connectivity features and combines them with a more performance-oriented look and feel.”
The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS is scheduled to go on sale later next year and will be built here in this country at GM’s Orion Assembly Center in Michigan.

Chevy Volt,Malibu Earn 5 Star Safety Rating Zeigler Chevy Schaumburg
Chevy Volt, Malibu Earn 5-Star Euro Safety Rating

As Chevrolet continues to extend its global reach by launching cars like the Chevy Volt and all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu in Europe, the brand also continues to extend its global reputation for safety: Each of those vehicles earned 5-star ratings—the highest possible—in the latest round of the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). Similar to those of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 5-star program, the Euro NCAP ratings provide valuable information for potential buyers.
“The results confirm that both vehicles meet today’s highest safety standards,” said Wayne Brannon, president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe, who also noted: “The Volt’s safety performance and propulsion concept highlight the reliability and practicality that is inherent to this outstanding design.”

The completely redesigned Malibu—which will become the first Malibu ever to be sold in Europe—has not been tested yet by the IIHS or NHSTA, but Chevrolet has high expectations for its U.S. safety performance, too. That makes sense, because also high is the level of standard and available safety equipment on the U.S. Malibu, including:
- Standard dual-stage driver and front-passenger air bags, driver and front-passenger pelvic/thorax side-impact air bags, driver and front-passenger knee air bags, and roof-rail air bags with rollover protection
- Standard four-channel anti-lock brakes with full-function traction control, four-corner electronic stability control, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist system, corner brake control, hydraulic brake fade assist and drag torque control
- Available second-row head/thorax side-impact air bags
- Available lane-departure warning system with forward collision alert
- Available rearview camera system
The 2012 Chevrolet Volt, featuring an EPA-certified all-electric driving range of 35 miles and the ability to go hundreds of more miles relying on its onboard internal-combustion range extender, is on sale now. The 2013 Malibu Eco, which relies on GM’s eAssist light-electrification system for expected EPA ratings of 26 mpg city/38 mpg highway, is slated to launch in February of 2012, with the other members of the new Malibu family to follow in the summer.

2012 Chevy Equinox Gains New Features Zeigler Chevrolet Schaumburg
2012 Chevy Equinox Gains New Features

The lowdown on the upgrades to the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox?
“Since this generation went on sale in mid-2009 we have sold every Equinox we can build, but we aren’t counting on that momentum to carry us,” said Russ Clark, director, Chevrolet marketing. “We have carefully selected technologies that our customers will find valuable and are able to offer them at very attractive prices.”

In addition, the new model year will see the Equinox add GM’s exclusive one-camera crash-avoidance system to its long list of available equipment. Significantly undercutting the price of rival systems, with an MSRP of $295, the Equinox’s technology relies on a high-resolution digital camera that is mounted just ahead of the rearview mirror on the windshield. The camera is able to detect the shapes of other vehicles and lane markings and alert the driver—with both visual and audible warnings—if the Equinox is following too closely to another vehicle ahead of it or leaves its lane without the driver signaling, or if a collision is imminent. And if a potential collision scenario arises, the system ensures the Equinox’s brakes are pre-charged for optimal braking performance.

Chevy Cruze Cruises to Its Millionth Sale Zeigler Chevrolet Schaumburg
Chevy Cruze Cruises to Its Millionth Sale
by Chevrolet in the News

Consider it perfect timing: The same week that Chevrolet celebrated its first hundred years in business, it kicked off its second century in fine style by selling its millionth Chevy Cruze.
“I can’t think of a better birthday present,” said Chris Perry, vice president for global Chevrolet marketing and strategy. “Cruze’s combination of style, comfort, fuel-efficiency and safety is a hit across the globe. Our customers know a winner when they drive it.”
That’s certainly the case here in the U.S., where the Cruze remains the best-selling compact sedan in the country through October, with sales up more than 110 percent as compared to the car it replaced in Chevy’s lineup. Further, the Cruze—now sold in more than 100 countries around the world—is the fourth-best-selling car in its segment internationally, and in seventh place overall.
Also notable is that the Cruze has been very effective in attracting both new customers and those who are new to the Chevy brand. Chevrolet has grown its market share among the “millennial” generation by a full percentage point already in 2011, while 42 percent of this year’s U.S. Cruze buyers have traded in vehicles from outside the General Motors family. The No. 1 vehicle swapped for the Cruze: The Honda Civic.
This kind of success is sure to continue, too, as Chevy isn’t resting on its laurels going forward. For example, even though the Cruze already was the most fuel-efficient gas-only car in America when it was introduced, boasting EPA ratings of 28 mpg city/42 mpg highway/33 mpg combined with a manual transmission, Chevrolet engineers pushed the envelope further. As a result of numerous upgrades for the new model year, the 2012 Cruze Eco with an automatic transmission gained 2 mpg on the highway and 1 mpg in combined driving. Its new EPA ratings: 26 mpg city/39 mpg highway/31 mpg combined.
And that car, along with the entire 2012 Cruze lineup, is on sale at Chevrolet dealerships now.

Chevy Spark To Start A Driving Revolution Zeigler Chevrolet Schaumburg
New Chevy City Car to Spark a Driving Revolution
by Chevrolet in the News

Developed to appeal to both city drivers and first-time buyers, the all-new 2013 Chevy Spark is set to make its U.S. debut on Nov. 16 at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. It marks Chevy’s first foray into the city-car segment in this country, and the brand plans on setting the pace with the Spark, thanks to the car’s unique focus on both fun and features.
While boasting nimble dimensions specifically tailored for the urban environment, the Spark also provides a big list of benefits, including the kind of connectivity and infotainment functionality that’s usually reserved for larger cars. This includes the only seven-inch touchscreen in its class capable of displaying smartphone-based navigation, media and contacts for hands-free calling, as well as the Chevy MyLink system, which is standard on the Spark 1LT and 2LT models. Chevy MyLink offers access via a paired smartphone to apps like Pandora and Stitcher Internet radio, and it can even play videos and display digital photo albums when the Spark is parked.
“This level of infotainment and connectivity was unheard of in this segment, until now,” said Chris Perry, vice president, global Chevrolet marketing and strategy. “We know Spark buyers do not want to give up personalization just because they drive a smaller car.”

- Standard air conditioning and power windows
- A motorcycle-inspired gauge cluster
- The segment’s only five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty
- GM’s OnStar safety and security system
- Ambient interior lighting
- A peppy 1.2-liter I4 engine capable of 85 hp
- 10 airbags
- A wide range of personalization and customization features
- Standard electronic traction control
- Heated seats
- Exterior finishes that range from Salsa, Jalapeno, Denim, Lemonade and Techno Pink to more traditional colors like Grey Area, Black Granite, Silver Ice and Summit White
Drivers who choose up-level Spark models can up the ante even further, with exterior details like matching rocker-panel moldings and chrome brightwork that accents the car’s beltline, liftgate handle, “poke-through” exhaust outlets and fog-lamp housings.
“Spark is for buyers who want much more than a ‘cute’ small car – they want a car that can be personalized, is dynamic and fashionable, and delivers a lot of value for the money,” added Perry. “Spark’s vibrant exterior and interior colors make a fashion statement, but it is also affordable, safe, maneuverable and very fuel-efficient.”
More information about the Spark, including pricing and EPA information, will be released closer to the car’s on-sale date in the summer of 2012.

The 2013 Diesel Cruze Is Comming To Schaumburg IL Zeigler Chevrolet
50 MPG Chevy Cruze Diesel to be Sold, Built in U.S.
by Chevrolet in the News on October 21, 2011

Chevrolet’s commitment to a fuel-efficient future – and support for U.S. manufacturing – were both in the news recently when GM announced it would build the 2013 Chevy Cruze diesel, expected to achieve about 50 mpg highway, at its plant in Lordstown, Ohio. The automaker also will invest $5.5 million in the facility to prepare for the new vehicle; it’s a necessary expense, since the team at Lordstown is currently running at near full capacity to keep up with demand of the gas-engined Cruze.
The popular compact was the best-selling vehicle in its segment in September, as well as through September, and has sold more than 212,000 units in its first 12 months in the U.S. marketplace. The diesel variant is slated to build on that success by representing yet another boost to Chevy’s ongoing efforts to improve the fuel economy of the Cruze lineup.
The Cruze Eco configured with a six-speed manual transmission already owns the highest fuel-efficiency mark of any gas-only vehicle sold in this country – a sterling 42 mpg – and that goes with impressive ratings of 28 mpg city and 33 mpg combined. But for the 2012 model year, Chevrolet engineers were able to squeeze even more miles per gallon out of the Cruze Eco outfitted with its six-speed automatic; the car is now up to 39 mpg highway, which represents a gain of more than 5 percent as compared to the 2011 model. Further, the peppy Cruze turbo received 2-mpg improvements across the board for 2012 and can deliver an EPA line of 26/38/30 with its six-speed autobox.
The next leap forward, the Cruze diesel, will get things jumping in the 2013 calendar year.
