Chevrolet Confirms Diesel-Powered Cruze In 2013

Diesels are often praised for their strong fuel economy, and they’re increasingly seen as an attractive alternative to gasoline- and hybrid-powered vehicles. However, few manufactures offer diesels here in the Unites States. Apparently, Chevrolet is listening and is eager to satisfy customers that want more diesel options.
For 2013, Chevrolet will add a diesel-powered variant to the Cruze lineup. Diesel Cruzes are already on sale in Europe, but they will soon become an option for car buyers in North America for the very first time.
Although the Cruze is already one of Chevy’s most fuel-efficient models, the addition of a diesel engine will give even more options to car buyers that are searching for high-mileage. The availability of a diesel model will compliment the42 mpg Cruze Eco, which is currently the most fuel-efficient gas-powered/non-hybrid vehicle in America.
In addition to offering strong fuel economy, another engine option will likely fuel the Cruze’s popularity. The compact has recorded a total of 24,896 sales in the United States in June, the fifth consecutive month sales have exceeded 20,000 units. As Chevrolet’s share of the compact-car segment grows, the automaker is eager to give customers even more to love.

2012 Chevy Volt Available for Ordering at Zeigler Chevrolet Schaumburg

2011 Chevrolet Volt image
In another major step forward for green transportation, Chevrolet dealers across the country are now taking orders for the 2012 Chevy Volt. And while availability of the Volt will increase dramatically—the 2011 model launched in seven states and Washington, D.C.—its starting price actually will decrease. Thanks to economies of scale that come with expanded production, the 2012 Volt will have an MSRP of $39,995; that’s more than $1,000 lower than the sticker price of the first Volts, and it can be further lowered by up to $7,500 in federal tax credits, bringing the car’s net cost to consumers down to $32,495.
And take note, that reduced price includes more features, too, like:
  • Two new exterior colors (Summit White and Blue Topaz Metallic) and two new interior accent colors (White and Spiced Red)
  • Standard keyless access with passive locking, which can automatically lock or unlock the Volt’s doors when the key fob gets close to the vehicle
  • Standard three-year subscription to OnStar Turn by Turn navigation services
  • Standard Chevrolet MyLink, providing Bluetooth streaming audio for music and select phones (late availability)
  • Standard AM/FM stereo with CD player, MP3 playback and 7-inch diagonal color touch-screen display
  • Optional in-dash navigation system
  • Optional 17-inch sport alloy wheels with black inserts (late availability)
Chevrolet also will continue its stellar (and standard) warranty coverage, which includes:
  • An eight-year/100,000-mile limited warranty on the Volt’s 16-kWh lithium-ion battery
  • Three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage
  • Five-year/100,000-mile roadside assistance and courtesy transportation
  • Five-year/100,000-mile limited gas engine coverage
  • Six-year/100,000-mile corrosion protection coverage
“We are giving consumers greater choice of content as the Volt becomes available nationwide by the end of this year,” said Cristi Landy, Volt marketing director. “This gives us the opportunity to be more flexible in our pricing and still provide additional high-tech content to customers who want to purchase it.”
To place your order for the 2012 Volt—which will still deliver an all-electric, no-emissions driving range of up to 35 miles and a total driving range of up to 379 miles—contact Zeigler Chevrolet Schaumburg today.

GM's Customers Real Satified with There Suv's Zeigler Chevrolet

GM’s Real SUVs Are Real Satisfying For Today’s Customers

Even as General Motors successfully works to meet customer demand for high-efficiency vehicles like the Chevrolet Cruze Eco (capable of 42 mpg highway) and Chevrolet Volt (already helping drivers go more than 1,000 miles between fill ups), the company knows that for many people, there’s still no replacement for rugged full-size, full-capability sport utilities and pickups. That’s why GM continues to put so much effort into continuously improving its lineup—effort that paid off recently when three General Motors body-on-frame vehicles won their segments in the 2011 AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards.
One of the industry’s premiere benchmarks for buyer satisfaction, the annual awards rely on input directly from owners, who evaluate their vehicles across “48 separate categories that objectively measure the ownership experience,” according to George Peterson, president of AutoPacific.
The Cadillac Escalade topped the Luxury Sport Utility Vehicle segment; GMC Yukon took home the honors among Large Sport Utility Vehicles; and the Chevy Avalanche, with its versatile Midgate that can be used to either extend its cargo bed for extra hauling room or extend the size of its cabin to hold up to six passengers, won the Large Light Duty Pickup category.
And significantly, even though these vehicles were designed with a focus on functionality, they still offer notable GM fuel-efficiency technologies. Among them is Active Fuel Management—standard on all three AutoPacfic winners—which can sense when the vehicle doesn’t need the full power of its V8 engine and automatically and seamlessly deactivate four of the cylinders to reduce fuel consumption. In addition, both the Escalade and the Yukon—as well as the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups, and the Chevrolet Tahoe full-size SUV—are available with two-mode hybrid powertrains.
As just one example of what this innovative system can achieve, consider that the Yukon Hybrid can seat up to eight and tow up to 6,200 lbs., but it can also travel under electric power alone at speeds of up to 30 mph and achieve up to 20 mpg in city driving, even when equipped with four-wheel-drive—that’s the exact same urban fuel-efficiency performance as you get with a Toyota Camry V6.
The latest models of the award-winning Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Avalanche are on sale now.

Chevy Cruze Loses Spare To Gain Fuel Efficiency

by CHEVROLET IN THE NEWS on JULY 8, 2011
2011 Chevrolet Cruze ECO image
The all-new Chevrolet Cruze boasts outstanding fuel efficiency, with the ability to achieve up to 26 mpg city/36 mpg highway/30 mpg combined. But that didn’t satisfy Chevy engineers: To help deliver the most fuel-efficient gas-only compact in the U.S.—the Cruze Eco, which posts an EPA line of 28 mpg city/42 mpg highway/33 mpg combined—they made 42 unique changes to the Cruze, including swapping out a spare tire and jack for an onboard air-inflator system.
Not only does that help boost fuel efficiency by reducing the Cruze Eco’s curb weight by 26 lbs., but it also provides owners with a safer way to deal with flat tires.
“Getting rid of something as important as the spare tire wasn’t a decision we made lightly,” said Terry Connolly, GM director of Tire and Wheel Systems. “The universal implementation of tire pressure monitoring systems over the past five years has significantly reduced the likelihood that a flat tire will leave you stranded by the side of the road.”
In the Cruze Eco, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) can detect a low-pressure situation early, before tire damage occurs. The driver is then able to plug the trunk-mounted inflator into the car’s 12-volt interior accesory socket and repressurize the tire within minutes. Even if an object like a nail or screw punctures one of the Cruze’s tires, the system can be used to inject a special sealant capable of plugging tread holes up to a quarter inch in diameter. The whole process takes just minutes, and with much less risk than a tire change. (However, note that per GM, reinflated tires should always be inspected at a repair facility as soon as possible after the car gets get back on the road.)
And if a tire is too severely damaged to be repaired, the Cruze Eco offers an even easier option: With GM’s OnStar telematics system, drivers can simply press the blue OnStar button on the Cruze Eco’s rearview mirror and request emergency roadside assistance.
The easy-to-use air inflator also makes it simple to ensure the Cruze Eco’s tires are inflated correctly for optimum fuel efficiency.
“The Cruze engineering team equipped the Eco with industry-leading low rolling-resistance tires. Ensuring that they stay properly inflated will help drivers get the full benefit of this lower fuel consumption,” added Connolly. “Tire pressure actually changes about one pound per square inch for every 10 degrees of ambient temperature change. Keeping your tires at the recommended pressure year round means drivers won’t have to fill the fuel tank quite as often.”

The New Chevy Sonic at Zeigler Chevrolet Schaumburg

2012 Chevrolet Sonic image
When it comes to helping the country move toward a greener future, building high-quality, high-efficiency new cars like the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Veranois just part of the battle. At General Motors, how those cars are built is just as important. That’s why when the Sonic and Verano go into production this fall, they’ll be manufactured at a GM assembly plant that gets 40 percent of its energy by burning landfill gas.
And not only will using landfill gas at its Orion Assembly Plant in Lake Orion, Mich., help GM save $1.1 million per year in energy costs, it also will greatly reduce the amount of greenhouse gases, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides released into the air. In addition, it’s just one of the many steps GM is taking to shrink the environmental impact of assembling its new small cars, including:
  • Upgrading the Orion facility’s lighting, which each year cuts electricity usage by 5,944 megawatts and reduces CO2 emissions by 3,676 metric tons, while saving GM $430,000 in annual energy costs.
  • Implementing waste-reduction programs that have helped plant workers reduce total waste by more than 25 percent in just five years.
  • Launching an enhanced paint shop that uses 50 percent less energy per car than the one it replaced, without sacrificing paint quality or appearance.
“With these improvements, we’ll reduce greenhouse gas production by about 80,000 metric tons at a full three-shift capacity,” said Maureen Midgley, GM executive director of Global Manufacturing Engineering. “This is equivalent to the emissions from 14,000 vehicles per year, and the electricity reduction is equal to the output from 3,500 homes.”
Both the turbocharged Chevy Sonic—available in both hatchback and sedan configurations—and the elegant Buick Verano—Buick’s premium compact sedan—will go into production this fall and reach dealerships before the end of the year.
